Convention Centers and Information Kiosks

Las Vegas, Nevada, November 13, 2000 - Clarinet Systems, Inc., a global provider of wireless connectivity solutions for handheld appliances, announces what is the first in a series of Wireless Infrared Access products under the "PASSPORT" family name. Catering to the ever-growing handheld devices market, the PASSPORT family will offer the most economical and fastest means of wireless connectivity available today.

The first product being supplied is the "InfoPort. The InfoPort enables a whole new breed of applications by storing up to 100 pages of text and instantly beaming the files at user defined intervals to Palm users. The InfoPort is targeted at information hungry environments such as Trade Shows, Conventions Centers, Museums and Stop 'n' Go coupon information Kiosks.

Providing a fast time to market and data transfer, twice as fast as any TCP/IP connection and ten times faster than any cellular connection, the InfoPort is the ultimate in providing user specified information at high bandwidth to Palm handheld devices. The InfoPort supports the complete Palm Computing OS product line and consists of a user programmable Hub, an Infrared beam, power supply, the "InfoSoft" desk top software utility and a Palm based software tracking program on CDROM.

The InfoPort is quick and easy to deploy, simply connect the InfoPort to your PC via standard Ethernet and install the InfoSoft software. Developers can program .prc files from up to 100 8.5 x 11 pages onto the InfoPort.

How it Works
The user simply points their Palm device towards the InfoPort's Infrared beam, and in seconds receives the desired information or application on their Palm OS device. For companies who's goals are to provide their customers with information on the go without having to print stacks of collateral, the InfoPort streamlines the process by delivering real time information and applications to the user in seconds. By using the InfoPort, Palm users can receive free information instantly.

Applications

In airports, train stations, movie theaters or restaurants receive news and information, arrival and departure schedules, city maps, restaurant guides, as well as coming attractions at local movie theaters.
