CLARINET SYSTEMS STRIKES A STRATEGIC AGREEMENT WITH TECH DATA FOR
DISTRIBUTION OF INFRARED LAN ACCESS PRODUCTS

MILPITAS, CA, USA (January 29, 2001) -Clarinet Systems, Inc. a global provider of wireless connectivity solutions for handheld appliances, announced today that it has entered into a strategic agreement to strengthen its reseller channel focus through a partnership with Tech Data Corporation, CLEARWATER, Fla (NASDAQ/NMS: TECD) a global technology distributor.

Tech Data will now distribute Clarinet Systems complete line of Infrared network connectivity products, including the EthIR LAN ESB101, ES208 and 608. Clarinet Systems is pleased to announce that its range of high-speed wireless infrared network connectivity solutions are now available through Tech Data, one of the leading distributors of IT products in the US. "The distribution of our products by Tech Data to their more than 70,000 VARs and Systems Integrators will enable us to satisfy the increasing market demand for our products" commented Colin Petty, VP Sales, Clarinet Systems, Inc. "We are seeing a tremendous growth for the need to connect Handheld devices to the enterprise network, the Internet and to remotely synchronize PIM data and access email. Clarinet Systems Products Clarinet System's EthIR LAN, wireless access systems, are designed to connect handheld devices and PC's to the corporate network and Internet, via their built-in, infrared (IR) port, without additional cards, cables or third-party software. These devices are becoming increasingly popular with an organization's mobile workforce as users need instant, on-demand and untethered access to email and the Internet while traveling or away from their office. Mobile users do not want to be inconvenienced by cables, cradles, cards or costly RF modems.
