CLARINET SYSTEMS ANNOUNCES
$6M DISTRIBUTION AGREEMENT WITH OPTRON
PLUS A MAJOR ORDER FROM SOUTH AFRICA TELKOM

Milpitas, CA, March 27, 2001- Clarinet Systems, Inc. a global provider of wireless connectivity for handheld appliances, announces the signing of a $6M distribution agreement with Optron of South Africa for the supply of it high-speed infrared Internet and LAN access equipment into Sub-Saharan Africa.

Optron, the major supplier of survey and mapping solutions in Africa, has received a major order from South Africa Telkom for the installation of Clarinet Systems EthIR LANTM system into over 600 of Telkom's regional offices and product shipments are currently underway.
