CLARINET SYSTEMS ESTABLISHES
ALLIANCE WITH GTSI
TO BRING WIRELESS INFRARED NETWORK ACCESS TO
FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT MARKETS
Fremont, CA, USA April 16, 2001 -Clarinet Systems, Inc (R). and GTSI (R) Corp., (Nasdaq: GTSI), announced today a new alliance to bring Clarinet's wireless networking solutions to GTSI's government customers through GTSI's NIH ECS-2 (National Institutes of Health, Electronic Computer Store) and NASA's SEWP-2 (Scientific and Engineering Workstation Procurement) contracts.
Clarinet Systems is a global provider of wireless connectivity solutions for handheld appliances. Its family of EthIR LANTM products enables wireless Infrared LAN and Internet access on a broad variety of portable and handheld computing devices. Clarinet Systems' EthIR LAN wireless access systems connect handheld devices and PCs to corporate enterprise networks and Internet via their built-in infrared (IR) port without additional cards, cables or third-party software. Infrared is a reliable, robust and safe technology.
To the extent used for point-to-point communication, it is also a secure technology. Operating with infrared also ensures there is no interference with the customers' existing communication infrastructure. "With an increasingly mobile government workforce, wireless connectivity is becoming more critical than ever for staying in touch and productive while on the go," said Mark Zelinger, GTSI's Vice President of Product Marketing and Vendor Relations. "EthIR LAN's high speed connectivity over infrared offers our customers the means to connect handheld devices to a LAN, regardless of platform or operating system."
"Partnering with GTSI adds strategic value to our focused government channel efforts to provide a reliable and robust technology that offers a viable wireless connectivity solution for federal, state, and local governments," said Colin Petty VP Sales, Clarinet Systems, Inc. "GTSI's reputation and customer focus will enable government agencies to have ready access to this established technology."
