Bachmann Software and Clarinet Systems Team Up SAN ANTONIO (June 18, 2002)…Today at the National Education Computing Conference (NECC) in San Antonio, Bachmann Software is announcing that its PrintBoy application will now support printing from Palm OS® based devices to Clarinet Systems' EthIR LAN high-speed infrared LAN access system. Since many schools do not have the resources to arrange for extensive networking, Clarinet Systems and Bachmann Software have teamed to produce an easy solution that allows teachers and students to rapidly produce hard copies of their handheld data, while leveraging the IR port already included on Palm Powered(R) handhelds. Providing PrintBoy functionality will enable students and faculty to submit print jobs wirelessly from a PDA, via the infrared port, to Clarinet Systems' EthIR Beam(R) stations located throughout a campus. Once a document is transmitted to the EthIR Beam station, it is then routed to a designated network printer. Also at NECC, Bachmann Software is demonstrating printing support for Hands High Software's Thought Manager, a popular outlining application that is very useful for helping students and teachers to organize projects. As more students and faculty are using PDAs for outlining requirements for projects, it is often important to be able to print the outlines for further editing and collaboration. PrintBoy Deluxe already supports many of the most popular education applications, such as Quickoffice, WordSmith, HanDBase, ThinkDB, FreeWrite, Corsoft Aileron and Student 4.0, among others, and adding support for Thought Manager strengthens its position as the printing application of choice among educators. "We're proud to produce a printing application that has become the industry standard in the education market," said Dan Reuvers, Bachmann Software's vice president of marketing. "Now that PrintBoy supports Thought Manager and wireless network printing, it has become an even more indispensable tool for teachers, administrators, and students." "Bachmann Software's revolutionary PrintBoy application, along with the EthIR LAN, will undoubtedly change and expand the way people use their PDAs for printing from now on," said Wen Chang, Clarinet Systems' president. Bachmann is a leading contributor to the overall Palm Economy by producing more than 50 products for the Palm OS. Many Fortune 500 companies have engaged Bachmann to develop mobile computing solutions.
