Clarinet Systems Teams with ASUS Technology to Provide
4Mbps FIR PDA Connectivity
Clarinet Systems, Inc. (
www.clarinetsys.com) a provider of wireless infrared connectivity solutions
for handhelds, has announced completion of FIR performance testing for the ASUS
A620 PocketPC PDA operating with Clarinet's EthIR LAN wireless infrared switches.
Clarinet's testing revealed that, at 4 Mbps connectivity speeds, FIR
significantly reduces the synchronization time between PDA's and other devices
by a factor of 10 or more times over SIR (115 Kbps) in all applications in
which infrared networking is used. For example, in Clarinet's tests,
a 1 MB file transfer through an EthIR LAN switch was completed in 10 seconds with
the ASUS A620 FIR-equipped PDA as compared to 112 seconds with another
manufacturer's SIR-equipped PocketPC PDA. When tested against Palm OS
SIR-equipped devices, the file transfer speed of the ASUS A620 FIR PDA
via the EthIR LAN switch was over 20 times faster. Specific performance test
data can be seen on Clarinet's web site.
Clarinet Systems' EthIR LAN series wireless infrared network switches are used
in industrial, enterprise, healthcare, hospitality, educational and other markets
where users value the capability that Clarinet's EthIR LAN switches
provide to quickly and easily establish network access with
users' PDA's through the infrared ports that are built into
virtually all handheld devices as standard options. 4 Mbps FIR functionality
is standard across the entire ASUS PocketPC PDA family of products. Additional
information about the ASUS PocketPC PDA series is available at
