University of Kansas Hospital Selects Clarinet Systems’ ESB301 Single-Port Switches
for Wireless PDA Networking

The University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City has just placed a large order for Clarinet Systems’ EthIR LAN Series ESB301 single-port wireless infrared network switches. After an initial pilot phase, this large and prestigious mid-western medical center expects to expand deployment of the ESB301’s to several hundred ports.

A variety of PocketPC and Palm PDAs will be used by physicians throughout the hospital with Clarinet Systems' EthIRLAN ESB301’s for wireless infrared network access to the hospital’s newly implemented PatientKeeper healthcare productivity software. PatientKeeper Clinical Results, Charge Capture, and Mobile Dictation will be the specific applications deployed. The initial pilot phase will commence by the end of August and will involve several hundred physicians. A key factor in the University of Kansas Hospital selecting the ESB301 was the capability of the EthIR LAN technology to support any device with an IrDA compliant infrared port, which includes the hospital’s entire range of PocketPC and Palm PDA’s, all of which come with IrDA compliant infrared ports as standard, factory-installed options.
